Clean out time…

IMG_0414

Yesterday I did the dreaded clothes clean-out in Lauren’s room.  I pulled everything out of the closet and drawers and went through each item to make three piles: Goodwill, garage sale and might still fit next summer.  Wow, what a chore!  I found that it’s a bit of an emotional drain to go through everything.  There were some items that I had a hard time putting in the Goodwill and garage sale piles.  I still had some things in the closet that she wore in China and things I had purchased back when she was only a dream to me that now have been worn and no longer fit….sigh.  I have to admit that a few of the things I couldn’t part with went into the box for next year even though I know they won’t fit next year.  ;)

IMG_0419Last night I told Lauren that it’s time to put Mickey in his pocket and she ran over to the calendar to put the second one in.  It’s very cool to see her enjoying this after all my hard work.

I told her that we’ll put a Mickey in every night and when the last one is in its pocket then it’s time to go visit Mickey Mouse where he lives at Disneyland.  She asked…and Goofy too?  Yes, baby, Goofy too.

I can't imagine how you felt putting those in piles.. I know that I sit and look at the handmade things I have bought for Isabella... and I will have a hard time parting with them..

Tough job..not my favorite. I have a large backpack hanging in Sierra's closet that we brought back from China. Anything clothes that we bought in China goes in there as well as some of the toys we bought there that she has out grown. when she gets older she can look through the things. Can't part with them either!!

Girl! I am SO with ya!! I just posted about this yesterday - and I hadn't even seen your post yet...

I've gotten a lot of response along the same lines - hard to part with the clothes. I think for me, it's letting go of much more than material. It's hard and painful...

Anyway - just had to say how cute your girly is - want to squeeze her!

Quite the bittersweet job. Know exactly how you feel. Can't wait to see little miss in the Land of Mouse. Enjoy the anticipation!

Kind regards from Miami,
